    1. They were compensating for the difficulty of the levels by making the bosses really weak to specific things. Magic was legit mega broken in the OG and is basically easy mode because every single boss is pretty much weak to it

      The real answer though is that they just didn’t have the formula down yet. Demons’ souls has a lot of bad gimmick bosses and so does DS1 to an extent.
