But I think the problem you're describing stems from developers wanting mass appeal to move enough units to cover higher development costs but Nintendo already sells enough copies with their current approach so larger budgets wouldn't necessitate a new strategy. ND doesn't believe their platformer would move 10-20 million like TLOU but Nintendo's platformer did 30 million so it would just (at most) result in a hit to their extremely comfortable margins.

    Also I'm just asking for increased fidelity and features (similar to the evolution of Xenoblade across console platforms or how Nintendo reinvented all their franchises for the N64). I don't want them to make GOW.

    2. I've been saying this the entire time because of the way PS4 and Switch 1 played out. I sold my PS4 for $300 in 2020 because of the pandemic so the entire ownership cycle was $100 but the closer I bought it to launch the lower the price/year would've been. Switch 1 depreciated by a similar amount ($150 over 7 years) and these consoles ended up appreciating post pandemic.

    Modern Naughty Dog isn’t working on a Jak 4 because they literally can’t release a platformer. They’ve leaned too far into making the standard AAA games.
    Look at Suckerpunch as well. They’ll never be allowed to make something like Sly Cooper again.

    Meanwhile Nintendo doesn’t really even make the type of AAA game everyone else does. There are zero Nintendo first party studios who would make something like God of War (not talking about the quality or “AAA-ness,” I mean literally that type of game) Nintendo is basically the only AAA dev keeping traditional games alive (Fromsoft as well to a degree) I just don’t understand how Nintendo stands to benefit from making the same exact games as everybody else.

    90% of prospects are drafted straight out of high school and sent to A ball (Rookie League) right away so you’re literally drafting on the potential of a high schooler who has never played adult baseball in their life. Meanwhile you have to go to college in football and basektball.

I feel kind of annoyed doing this because I generally don’t rant about the Giants since most people would kill to have their team go on a run like we did in the 2010’s in their lifetime, but these first two games have radicalized me.
